Factory reset of Thinkpad

  • Resetting Thinkpad from menu in Windows 10
  1. Before you start the process of resetting, please check the status of Bitlocker. If Bitlocker is on, please turn it off first.
  2. To begin the reset process in Windows 10, open the Start Menu and then click the Settings button.
  3. Click on Update & Security, then select Recovery to advance to the next step.
  4. Choose Restart Now under the Advanced Startup heading to bring up a menu with several options.
  5. Select Troubleshoot from the menu, and then click Reset this PC.
  6. To remove applications, settings, and personal files after resetting the PC, click the Remove Everything button.
  7. There are two options for removing files: Just remove my files and Remove files and clean the drive
  8. Select Remove files and clean the drive, it is recommended for a PC that is going to be given away, recycled, or sold.
  9. After choosing the method for removing personal files, click the Reset button to begin reinstalling Windows.
     
  •  Resetting Thinkpad without password (Windows 10)
  1. During the startup process when the logo appears press F11, it will interrupt the normal start and brings you to a menu with several options.
  2. If F11 isn’t working, continuously press Enter during powering on until a Startup Interrupt Menu displays. Select there Recover your system.
  3. Select Troubleshoot from the menu, and then click Reset this PC.
